All dogs entered in the competition must be recognised breeds and registered with the Canine Association of WA Inc.

Showbags and Sideshow Alley
The Wanneroo Show would not be complete without showbags. The showbag area is a colourful hive of energy and excitement with an extensive collection of fun-filled bags.
Showbags bring out the inner child in every show goer with a wide range of products to tempt the taste buds and entice the imagination.
On Showdays you can hear screams of terror and delight resounding from Sideshow Alley. The rides come from far and wide to transform Sideshow Alley into an extreme action zone of life and colour. The Wanneroo Show has a huge collection of amuse ment rides, which are second only to the Perth Royal Show.
Show goers race for the Megatron and the crash and bash of Dodgem Cars. Mean-while, masters of Sideshow Alley struggle under the weight of oversized stuffed toys, while others test their skills on new games and try to master the tricks and twists of the different games. Fairy floss and Dagwood dogs are the food of choice in Sideshow Alley and more than a few tummies will be turned almost inside out and upside down at this year's Wanneroo Show.
Wanneroo Gift Race – Saturday 28 November 2009This year will see the first running of the Wanneroo Gift race, sponsored by Bankwest and run concurrently with the Wanneroo Show.
The Wanneroo Gift features a 70m, 120m and 550m gift, a 1500m handicap and a 120m novice event, with $4000 in prize money to be distributed amongst WA’s leading track athletes.
While the 120m events will no doubt attract the attention of the crowd, a big feature event of the day will be the middle distance 550m and 1500m handicaps.
The track for these races is modelled on the famous Bay Sheffield meet in Adelaide, with tight bends surrounding the gift track making for spectacular racing.
Athletics WA Project Officer Sam Maxwell predicts a sensational day of racing. “I am really looking forward to this year’s races,” he said.
“Being the first year the event is held at Wanneroo, I hope this will be the begining of a long partnership between Athletics WA and the Wanneroo Show.
“Without doubt, the handicapping will make for some interesting racing among WA’s elite athletes and ensure the crowd is kept entertained.”
Racing will commence after 4pm on the arena with heats of the 120m Novice and 550m if required.

Each year spectators gather to watch the log-choppers wield their razor-sharp axes and slash through logs the size of tree trunks in seconds.
Log Chopping is a major attraction at the Wanneroo Show, and with the Show fast approaching, the axes are already being so finely honed you could use them to shave the hairs from your arms.
Log Chopping is a fascinating exhibition with woodchips flying as the axe blades speedily slice their way through the tough, jarrah logs.
However, the big difference at the log chopping competition this year is that Sandra Stokell, the Wanneroo Show’s first female log chopper, will take on the men.
Sandra has competed in sawing events for more than 15 years, but now she has an axe - and taken to log chopping! Sandra has lots of talent, and with just a little luck, she'll win some events - so the men better look out!
You can see Sandra and the other log choppers compete at the Wanneroo Show when the log chopping starts on the Saturday at 1.30pm outside the eastern end of the Margaret Cockman Pavilion.
Amateur Wine and Beer.
The Amateur Wine and beer exhibition is hosted in the Margaret Cockman Pavilion and is open for viewing on Friday Evening and also Saturday during the Show.
Classes within the exhibition include: Grape Wines, Fruit and/or Vegetable Wines, Beer.
