“Purely Unreal” Kimberley Dreamtime Adventure Tours is fully owned by the Jarlmadangah Burru Aboriginal Community.  Jarlmadangah is located on the Great Northern Highway within Mount Anderson station, approximately 126 km south-east of Derby, Western Australia. It is located amongst the Grant Ranges close to the Fitzroy River.

Jarlmadangah Community was first formed in 1987. John and Harry Watson are two elders who were instrumental in the formation of the community in order to maintain traditional language, law and culture, and to pass these aspects on to younger generations.

There are two main language groups in Jarlmadangah Burru; Nyikina is the traditional language of the area, and Mangala was brought from the desert by Aboriginal people brought in to work on the pastoral stations.

The tour company was set up to create employment opportunities within the community, and to give the local community members a chance to interact with visitors and share their stories.  The community residents live a traditional lifestyle, visitor numbers are restricted, and the community is not open to any other tour groups.  This means your visit will be personal and special.

We offer a one-day, and a two-day, tour from Broome to Jarlmadangah community. Private tours and charters are also available on request. The tour vehicle is a comfortable 16 seat fully air conditioned 4WD Mitsubishi Canter Bus.

One Day Cultural Adventure Tour
Our experienced guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Broome shortly before 7 am and we will travel through Kimberley cattle county on our way to an enjoyable coffee break at Willare. We then head east and shortly leave the bitumen behind to start our 4wd Adventure into Nyikina land, this countries traditional owners. We pass the historic Station of Lower Liveringa first settled in 1885 and now one of the few Aboriginal owned and operated cattle stations in the Kimberley. We past many huge Boab trees on our way to the picturesque Mount Anderson where you will meet Aboriginal Elder Mr Harry Watson. Harry’s team will take you on a Camel Safari through the Grant Ranges showing traditional tracking skills, local bush tucker, local wildlife and medicine along the way.

After a hearty lunch at our very own private camp ground we visit the Cultural Centre at the remote Aboriginal Community of Jarlmadangah where our local guides will show us how Traditional tools, weapons and art were made and used. Take the opportunity to purchase one of the many genuine local made products on sale. From here we are led into the Ranges to visit an old living site. Here we are told Dreamtime Stories, view Rock Art and enjoy fresh cooked Damper and Billy Tea. View the rugged Kimberley landscape and the many Boab Trees from this very special site. The day finishes bidding farewell to our new friends and commencing a scenic drive back into Broome hoping to catch a Beautiful Kimberley Sunset around 6.00pm.
